ETCHINGS
Etching is an old technique using nitric acid to burn marks, in mirror image, into plates of zinc, copper or steel, then printing on textured paper. Hard ground etching uses a needle point to make linear marks through a wax layer, with acid burning marks into these gaps. Acquaint uses resin dust to tone areas. Laura mostly uses hard ground and aquatint on zinc plates, and also photocopy transfer techniques on steel plates. She has most recently studied etching with Emma Pegg and Theresa Pateman at the Hampstead School of Art, and John Roberts at the Working Mens College Leighton Place, NW5. Her etchings are available as limited edition hand finished prints in black and white, and some in addition as hand finished colour prints. See available prints on the Home page.
